etsy shop love...

Found a new sweet vintage etsy shop, Playground Love Vintage! I had the chance to chat a big with the gal behind the shop & blog...

A little bit about her...

My name is Becky and I’m 25 years old. I was born and raised in Maitland, Florida (just outside of Orlando). I have a degree in Psychology and Sociology, which is about as general a degree as it gets after Business, but I enjoyed it. I’m a vintage buyer and would love to one day open my own store, but for now I have my shop on Etsy, and I also work full time for H&M. I’m a sucker for horror movies, Paul Rudd, dance, constantly quoting movies, to-do lists and slurpees. I live in downtown Orlando with my boyfriend of 4 years and our three year old dog Buddy (an adorable mix of cocker spaniel, pug, and boston terrier…random, I know).

A little bit about the shop...

I opened my shop on Etsy a little over a year ago. It was something I had wanted to do for a while once I realized my love and passion for thrifting and going to estate sales and finding those little vintage gems and treasures. So I decided to turn one of my favorite hobbies into a business to share with others all over the world. I wanted my shop to have a sort of dreamy, 70s kind of vibe and aesthetic because in my opinion it’s one of the best eras for everything fashion and music. The name Playground Love was inspired by one of my favorite novels and movies The Virgin Suicides, which also takes place in the 70s. I’m completely enamored by the Lisbon girls, and Lux Lisbon is one of my favorite characters of all time. I most of the items in my shop from thrift stores and estate sales, and some things are hand me downs from family. Some people think estate sales are creepy, but I love them…you get a small glance into these people’s lives and can take some of their old treasures home with you. I sometimes buy from bigger thrift stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army, but I tend to have more fun and find more unique items at small, local thrift shops in the area.

A little bit about the blog...

I just started my blog this year, back in January. Prior to that I was using Tumblr, but I found myself fairly limited as far as what I could do for the shop on there. I still have my own personal Tumblr now, but I got rid of the one for Playground Love and started a blog on blogspot instead. I figured new year, new blog, and so far I love it! It helps me reach out to more people and it’s such a great, supportive community. It’s basically a way for me to share what’s happening in my shop as far as updates and special sales and discounts, etc., as well as share everything from personal stories and anecdotes, to music and movies I enjoy, to fashion influences and inspirations in my life. I’m not much of a writer, so I use a lot of photographs and video. But who doesn’t like looking at pretty pictures?

Thanks for sharing Becky!

Be sure to check out her shop here & her blog here. Both are definitely worth  looking at!

  2. Cute red party dress! And, after YEARS of shying away from shorts, I am thinking of trying them again this year. Going to have to hit this shop up - thanks for the recommendation.
