featured seller friday : handz

Hi there :)

This weeks featured seller is Jan from handz on etsy. His shop is filled with vintage inspired goodies - most notably some pretty sweet prints. I do believe one would look perfect in my apartment!

Take a peek at my interview with Jan below, along with some of my favorite items from his shop handz.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

When I moved to my own flat and started to read some blogs about interior decorating I began a huge fan of mid century modern furniture and scandinavian design - this is my main source of inspiration.

When did you start designing?
Immediately after high school - I started work at a local agency.

You have some vintage Scandinavian items for sale in your shop, tell me about them...

Those are items I get for myself but actually have no space for them at home so I'm selling them, Im more of a collector that vintage trader, selling those precious item is always bit sad for me but it is nice when they could make someone else happy.

What has been your favorite thing about selling your designs?I'm very happy when I see that someone else likes my work!

pre-fall favorite...

I was purusing through some pre-fall 2011 collections when I stumbled on Matthew Williamson, whom I have never heard of before but now think is fabulous

The pre-fall collection is super wearable but also very stylish. There is something great about a designer who creates exciting pieces people can actually wear.

Some of my favorites...

I will have one of each in a size small please!

Have you peeked at any pre-fall collections yet??

featured seller friday : 42things

This weeks featured shop is 42things. I liked this shop because it is very unique and features old discarded vintage items in a new ways. In the shop you will find upcycled and recycled paper crafts, envelopes, reclaimed paper beads, salvaged gift tags, die cuts, reuse, destash, cloth napkins, bookmarks, postcards, and scrapbooking supplies.

It is full of crafty vintage goodies!

Check out the interview and some of my picks below...

Where did you get the idea to use recycled items to create your designs?

I've just always had a sense of things being wasted and wanting to save them.

What has been your favorite find used in your creations?

Wrapping paper, people use it, and save it or throw it away not knowing what to do with it... but the patterns and colours are so amazing!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

... many places, my kids my husband, the items that need rescuing.

Tell me a little bit about your creative process...

Well, I don't think I'm that creative, but the ideas just come to me as long as I'm open to creating. Each thing wants to be used... wants to be made into pretty stuff, fun stuff.
