Todays featured seller is Danielle from the Merriweather Council. She creates beautiful home décor featuring vintage fabrics. Her shop is super unique & extra pretty. I have noticed over the past month that some of her shop items have been featured on the front page! I am really excited to share the little interview I had with Danielle.
The Merriweather Council is a very unique & interesting shop name, what is the story behind it?
The name “Merriweather Council” originated when I was in 8th grade as a code name for Girl Scouts. My groups of gal-pals and I had been in the Girl Scouts since kindergarten and continued until senior year of high school! We loved it and it was fun, but during our formative and teenage adjustment period we didn’t want people to know we were still in Girl Scouts because it was “uncool” so I created this nickname for it. So instead of saying “girl scouts” in public, we said “the merriweather council” it was silly, but it worked.
You use a lot of amazing vintage fabric in your designs & the colors are gorgeous, what drew you to work with these vintage materials?
Vintage prints are awesome! And I love the hunt for a great vintage fabric. I like that the aesthetic and colors are different from contemporary fabrics, and I like that uniqueness. Vintage reproductions are great too, but there is something special about knowing that the fabrics that are genuinely vintage had a whole life before I got to them.
What is your favorite thing about designing and selling home décor?
I think I am attracted to home décor because it is a nice middle ground between my fine art background and my love of craft.
Thanks so much Danielle! Be sure to check her out at...
