featured seller friday : theClassicFarmhouse

This weeks featured seller is Katy from the etsy shop theClassicFarmhouse. Katy has some AMAZING houseware vintage items that I am drooling over. She has a great story & background as to how she began her little business.

Take a peek at her story below, along with some of my favorite items from her shop!

p.s. Katy is kind enough to offer readers of prettylittlevintage a discount of 20% off there first order (now through the end of October)! Just enter PLV1010 in a message to seller.

Your shop is filled with such amazing beautiful items (& they photographs are stunning!)…where do you get your inspiration from?

First off, thank you! I personally love creating a warm and inviting space that people feel comfortable in and I think nothing does that better then hints of history & nostalgia. I gain a lot of inspiration from rural living & old america. Times when life was simpler & less cluttered but still full of well loved & cherished things. I love things in particular that can be used in a variety of ways...even if it's not the intended use. With style it's all about having fun & making it you!

How did your fascination with vintage begin, & when did you decide you wanted to sell vintage?

I was raised in a 1910 Dutch Colonial home full of character & spent so much time at garage sales growing up that it just became a part of me. I don't remember a time in my life where I was not surrounded by old stuff! From young I was always collecting, gathering and 'inherting' old things. I still own very little that is not secondhand or recreated in some way.

My true start in selling vintage began over 20 years ago when I held my first (what became annual) garage sale to weed out some of my treasures. It almost became a joke how excited people were to come to my sales, leaving numbers & emails hoping they would be the first to know of my next one. I knew at that point I had a knack for it but didn't have the right venue...that is until I discovered etsy!!! I browsed for a couple months before I took the leap into setting up shop. So glad I did! & just so you know, the garage sale is still an annual event.

What is your favorite thing about selling vintage?

The adventure of discovering new & exciting treasures & the thrill of someone else purchasing that item to give it a new home. There's an excitement that comes from knowing that something I so lovingly rescued is going to be treasured by someone else.

Can we find you anywhere else (twitter, facebook, blogger?)?

Any final little tid bits you would like to share?

I'm constantly looking for treasures and often pass up great things that are just not 'my style'. For that reason I have a list of people that I 'personal shop' for. I'm always open for new requests.

{as I mentioned earlier} theClassicFarmhouse would love to offer your readers 20% off their first order at www.theClassicFarmhouse.etsy.com (excluding other sales. & for the discount code please use PLV1010...good through end of October and is for 20% any order (excludes shipping and other sales).

20% off people! I see a set of mugs with your name on them :)

Thanks again so much Katy & theClassisFarmhouse for offering my readers a discount and for being a featured seller!
