exciting news part two!

So my second piece of exciting news is, along with the new studio space I got a new job!

I have been working at a hair salon at the front desk, & I really do enjoy my job, but while I am in a creative environment, I don't get to be creative myself. So when I decided to get my studio, I wanted to get a new job, with a few less hours, that complimented my personal business.

This lead me to looking into retail again, but not selling (please God I cannot handle retail sales again!), instead I looked into merchandising. I dabbled a bit in merchandising back at my Urban Outfitter days & I absolutely love it. I love styling, window displays & being creative. So I landed a job as Visual Merchandiser at American Apparel! I have always loved the brand & their edgy sexy image, so I am excited to work with there clothes.

exciting news part one!

So I mentioned yesterday that I had some exciting news, well it's actually two pieces of exciting news, & here is the first one : I just signed a lease on my very own studio space!

I am SO excited. Like really super extra excited. I cannot wait to have my own space to make jewelry, photograph & collect vintage, & take sometime to really work on my blog! I will still be keeping a job, but I am hoping that one day I will be able to make a living off of my dreams.

My original goal was to open up a boutique, & I had done a TON of research, wrote a business plan & started to apply for small business loans. Turns out applying for small business loans is pretty difficult. I wasn't able to get a loan, & also it dawned on me the huge emotional, time & financial commitment owning a shop would be. I still want to do it one day, but I decided taking baby steps is the way to go.

Anyways, I get my space April 1st - I can't wait to decorate! Here is some of my inspiration...

It was SO freaking nice this weekend! One of my best ladies came down to Denver to visit me for the weekend, & we went biking all day Saturday. Matt got a flat tire, so we had to stop at this bike shop - which worked out for me because they have a pretty sweet wall where Liz snapped my photos.

I am really hoping that the weather stays nice, you never really know with Denver - it could be snowing in a week!
